You will be joining a small entrepreneurial team working closely within the dynamics of the larger organisation to provide a top-class mortgage comparison service to our customers.

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and well-rounded senior developer who enjoys being engaged in the product development process and actively participating in discovery and prioritization, with an ability to balance delivery speed versus technical necessities. Your focus will be on designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical backend services, while also contributing to the frontend to ensure seamless customer experiences.

You will be working closely with your product manager, designers, and fellow developers to take full ownership of the product lifecycle. We expect you not to shy away from interacting with the full team and asking extensive questions as part of the continuous delivery process.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate in an empowered product team to shape technical solutions that solve real customer problems.

• Participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure backend services, including APIs, data models, and infrastructure, that drive customer-facing applications with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Analyse usage data and system performance to inform architectural and product decisions.

• Contribute to frontend development when needed, ensuring a cohesive experience across the stack.

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a developer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with full-stack responsibility and high shipping frequency.

• Relevant Computer Science or Engineering Education (at least at BA level) or equivalent experience from work.

• Solid understanding of software development principles and methodologies.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Bonus if you have experience working with data science, analytics, or machine learning workflows—whether through building data pipelines, supporting experimentation, or integrating predictive models into production systems.

We value experience or familiarity with our chosen technologies, such as Node.js, React, Docker, AWS, but for the right candidate who has shown curiosity in different technologies and architectures, we will provide the necessary learning environment to quickly get up to speed with our stack and ways of working.
